EVO Visian ICL

Are you tired of wearing glasses or contact lenses? Although these visual aids can help you see the world, you may want to see without them in crisp and precise clarity.

Enter a vision correction procedure like the EVO Visian ICL that will allow you to achieve visual freedom and see everything without anything holding you back.

What is the EVO Visian ICL?

The EVO Visian ICL is an additive lens that corrects moderate to severe levels of nearsightedness and astigmatism in qualified patients. The lens is made of a material called collamer.

Collamer is a material derived from collagen, and because of this, collamer works in natural harmony with your eyes. If you have dry eyes or are nervous about having dry eyes after correcting your vision, the EVO Visian ICL is the perfect option.

How Does the EVO Visian ICL Work?

The EVO Visian ICL is placed in the eye by creating a small incision. It’s placed behind the iris and in front of your natural lens.

Because it is an additive lens, it does not remove tissue from the eye or reshape the cornea. It merely sits in the eye after implantation and helps improve nearsightedness and astigmatism.

Using collamer makes it an excellent choice for patients with existing dry eye syndrome or those nervous about having dry eyes as a side effect of vision correction. The EVO Visian ICL is also the only reversible vision correction procedure.

If, for any reason, you change your mind, you can have the EVO ICL removed from your eye. Having this as an option gives many patients much-needed peace of mind.

It’s also ideal for patients who need cataract surgery, as you can have the EVO ICL removed and replaced with an intraocular lens. Doing this will help you choose the best IOL without worrying that your EVO Visian ICL will get in the way.

The EVO Visian ICL is fantastic in dim or bright lighting, making it ideal for all lifestyles. You can enjoy great outdoors, movies, and binge-watching your favorite show with crisp, clear vision like never before, thanks to the EVO Visian ICL.

Am I a Good Candidate for the EVO Visian ICL?

Not everyone will qualify for the EVO Visian ICL. However, you may be a good candidate for the revolutionary vision correction procedure if the following applies to you:

  • You’re moderately to severely nearsighted, between -3 diopters and -20 diopters
  • You have some astigmatism, up to 4 diopters
  • You like the idea of vision correction procedures like LASIK, but are not a good fit
  • You’re between the ages of 21 and 45
  • You have a stable prescription that’s remained unchanged for a year or more
  • You have healthy eyes
  • You have realistic expectations about what the EVO Visian ICL can achieve if you undergo the vision correction procedure
  • You are not currently pregnant or nursing

How Does the EVO Visian ICL Compare to Other Vision Correction Procedures?

The EVO Visian ICL is a remarkable procedure that provides patients with much-desired visual freedom from glasses and contact lenses. But how does it compare to other similar vision correction procedures?

EVO Visian ICL and LASIK

The EVO Visian ICL and LASIK may seem similar but are separate procedures. LASIK can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

The EVO Visian ICL can only correct nearsightedness and astigmatism. However, the EVO ICL can correct beyond the treatment limitations of LASIK for nearsightedness, meaning that many patients who don’t qualify for LASIK may be a better fit for the EVO ICL.

The EVO ICL does not involve creating a flap in the cornea, as LASIK does. Instead, your surgeon will create a small incision. Then the ICL, made of collamer, is implanted and placed into the eye. It sits behind the iris and in front of the natural lens.

EVO Visian ICL and Cataract Surgery

Another vision correction procedure that may seem like it shares some similarities with the EVO Visian ICL is cataract surgery. With cataract surgery, you’ll have the natural lens removed and replaced with an artificial lens, called an intraocular lens, or IOL.

However, with the EVO ICL, the natural lens is never touched. Instead, the EVO Visian ICL is put in the eye in addition to the natural lens to help correct nearsightedness and astigmatism.

The EVO ICL does not treat cataracts and is not meant for patients with cataracts. However, if a patient has the EVO Visian ICL and then gets cataracts later in life, they can have the ICL removed, where it will be replaced with an IOL.

EVO Visian ICL and SMILE

An additional vision correction procedure offered at Justus Vision with Houston Eye Associates is SMILE. The EVO Visian ICL and SMILE have some similarities but also differences.

Although they both do not create a flap to correct eyesight, how they correct vision differs. SMILE improves vision by making an incision and a lenticule to correct refractive errors, while the EVO Visian ICL is an additive lens that sits behind the iris and in front of the natural lens.

When compared to other vision correction procedures, it’s clear that the EVO Visian ICL is one of a kind. Featuring incredible benefits like UV filtering, less incidence of dry eyes, and its status as the only reversible vision correction procedure, the EVO Visian ICL is worth considering if you’re ready to explore the world of visual freedom.
